National Enviromental Managment Authority

The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), is established under the Environmental Management and Co-ordination Act No. 8 of 1999 (EMCA) as the principlal instrument of Goverment for the implementation of all policies relating to environment . EMCA 1999 was enacted against a backdrop of 78 sectoral laws dealing with various components of the environment, the deteriorating state of Kenyas environment, as well as increasing social and economic inequalities, the combined effect of which negatively impacted on the environment. The supreme objective underlying the enactment of EMCA 1999 was to bring harmony in the management of the countrys environment.

Kenya Wildlife Trust

Kenya’s leading predator conservation organization, the Kenya Wildlife Trust is the wildlife partner of choice for the best conservation biologists in the world working in the field of large carnivores.
The Kenya Wildlife Trust (KWT) was founded in October 2007, an initiative of the Directors of Ker & Downey Safaris Company. Tourism Fund

Tourism Fund is a body corporate established under the Tourism Act, 2011 which came into operation on 1st September, 2012 vide special issue Kenya Gazette Supplement No. 93 of 24th August, 2012.
The Fund is the legislation  successor to Catering and Tourism Development Levy Trustees.  Trustees had been in existence since 1972 and operated under the umbrella of the Hotels and Restaurants Act, Cap 494, Laws of Kenya. The Act was repealed when the Tourism Act came into effect.

Turtle Bay

Turtle bay has a long history of supporting local conservation projects in Watamu. They are in partnership with the Watamu Turtle Watch which aims to protect the endangered turtle species. Turtle Bay has set up a bursary fund to support education of needy children, a children’s home to cater for the orphans and a primary school. The projects are mostly supported by Turtle Bay’s guests’ contributions. In addition, some of the guests are currently funding the construction of a community clinic in the nearby village of Timboni.
