ECOTOURISM KENYA PARTICIPATES IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE NAROK COUNTY INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT PLAN 2018-2022

On 2nd March 2018, Ecotourism Kenya was represented at the stakeholder meeting on development of Narok County Integrated Development Plan 2018-2022. This process entails engaging various stakeholders from different sectors e.g. Trade, Education, Health, Environment, Tourism, Agriculture, Finance, etc. whereby the County seeks input towards the County’s next five years’ development strategy.

The County Governments Act, 2012 obligates the County governments to prepare an integrated development plan that includes strategic priorities for the County over the medium term that reflect the county government’s priorities and plans, a description of how the county government is responding to changes in the financial and economic environment; and, programmes to be delivered. The County Governments are further required to prepare the County Integrated Development Plans to enable prioritization of socio-economic development issues at the local level. This is mandatory before the funding of county projects and programmes.

Ecotourism Kenya as a strong player in the tourism sector is happy and eager to participate in the County governments’ CIDP process, and provide input towards promoting responsible tourism practices, contribute towards policy formulation and awareness creation. Should you wish to engage EK to your County’s stakeholder forum for the CIDP please contact us via ceo@ecoturismkenya.org or standards@ecotourismkenya.org
