Ecotourism Kenya becomes one of the local partners in the implementation of the EU-Funded GreenTour Kenya Project (2018- 2022), Business Advocacy Fund and EK partnership took place and a yearlong project is implemented in collaboration with KECOBAT to influence the review of TRA licensing requirements for homestays; ITC SheTrades and EK partnership agreement signed to kickstart a 5-months project on digital marketing for small and medium enterprises, especially for women-led tourism businesses as the main focus.
The Leadership & Mentorship Program was initiated. It targets youth for professional skills development in responsible tourism and related fields.
National Ecotourism Conference was hosted by Ecotourism Kenya in the years 1998, 2002, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009 & 2012.
The Green Directory is launched! This directory houses a unique listing of green goods and services available in East Africa.
Ecotourism Kenya (EK) is adopted as the new name for the organization and a new logo is launched.
Eco-warrior Award is introduced to appreciate exemplary and outstanding contributions by tourist accommodation facilities, CBOs, tour operators, and individuals to the conservation of threatened biodiversity and social investment. This is the first award in the region with a sustainability focus on tourism.
ESOK launches The Kenya Safari Codes and Coast Codes, in collaboration with FoC, KATO, KWS and KPSGA.

The first ecotourism society in the Eastern African region & Kenya is registered with a council of founding members-Ecotourism Society of Kenya (ESOK) on 28th August.
First national and regional workshop on sustainable development and tourism was held. The idea of an Ecotourism society was conceptualized.
